Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation combines work and pleasure

In Palm Beach, even business meetings aren’t all business.

There is always a little bit of socializing.

Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation held its annual meeting on April 20 at Club Colette and, when all business was settled, the board members closed the season with a luncheon.

The afternoon included remarks from To mark To cookchairman of the foundation’s board of directors, who announced that the highly anticipated Hospice 2023 party, on a two-year COVID break, is scheduled for February 2 at The Breakers.

Cook also acknowledged Gaye and Jim Engel for their commitment to the 2021 and 2022 Hospices Evenings canceled due to the pandemic.

The highlight of the afternoon was the recognition of a longtime supporter Lore Dodgewho received the prestigious 2022 “Hospice Hero” award during the luncheon.

Dodge, along with her late husband John, has supported the hospice foundation for nearly 35 years.

Over the past 39 years, the Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation has given more than $26 million to support hospice care in Palm Beach County.

Through fundraising efforts and the work of volunteers, the foundation is able to provide resources for programs that support end-of-life care for patients and support for their families.
