Atlantis Paradise Island has raised the bar for overnight camping with its new Marine Life dusk-to-dawn camping adventure that offers an overnight getaway under the Bahamian stars.
This is not camping you might remember as a kid with leaky tents. Participants on this package sleep in temperature-controlled luxury canvas beach tents along the shores of Atlantis’ Dolphin Cay habitat.
All-weather tents are stylishly decorated with Adirondack chairs, sofas, and padded beds with comfortable bedding. The tents include a coffee maker, kettle, basket of snacks and a mini fridge stocked with water.
Customers can add wine, beer and light snacks to their package. Campers have access to adjacent bathrooms and showers as well as nearby outdoor showers.
Four tents are available: two tents can accommodate up to four people and two tents can accommodate up to six people. The minimum age of occupancy is 6 years old.
Nighttime activities include movies and games on the lawn, a beach campfire with s’mores, and moonlit kayaking.
During the day, there is a behind-the-scenes tour of the underwater world of Atlantis, which includes the Royal Towers Fish Hospital, the Rehab Center and the Fish Kitchen. Guests will have the chance to meet a baby sea turtle and visit the resort’s rescued pod of dolphins and sea lion family after dark.
The commissionable package, available Sunday through Thursday, began in July. Pricing per tent is the same regardless of the number and age of guests: nightly rates start at $4,000 for a four-person tent and $6,000 per night for a six-person tent. An Atlantis room reservation is required to book the package.
A portion of the proceeds goes to the non-profit Atlantis Blue Project foundation, which is dedicated to saving marine species and their habitats in the Caribbean.
