WARNA by Mahogany, a pioneering waste-to-fashion initiative, was developed by Leonie Vaas, Sustainable Innovation Manager at Hayleys Fabric, by extracting the dye in-house using waste generated by the local cotton industry. furniture.

However, with the increase in environmentally conscious consumers, the demand for natural dyes and recycled materials in fabrics has increased significantly. Mahogany dye has been tested to ensure it meets internationally accepted standards and is free from hazardous chemicals, making it safer for the wearer, the environment and those involved in the process Manufacturing. The exclusive mahogany dye is hue-rich, offering 16 hybrid dye colors in different fabric compositions (100% cotton, 100% polyester and poly-cotton blend), the statement said.

A unique Life Cycle Impact Assessment was conducted to identify and analyze the impact on climate change, with results showing a 36% positive impact on the environment compared to the use of synthetic dyes. Leftovers are collected and directly used in the manufacture of fertilizer to maintain circularity.

“Hayleys Fabric is also working with other natural dye suppliers to develop a new range of eco-friendly products for the market through its INNO brand, which aims to bring eco-friendly, functional, fashionable and products for use in apparel products in markets around the world,” the statement added.
