Harris Oceanside GM wins Vancouver Island Automotive Company of the Year – Parksville Qualicum Beach News

Harris Oceanside Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd. was voted Automotive Company of the Year at the 21st Annual Grant Thornton LLP Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards, held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria on March 17.

The Parksville dealership was one of 72 finalists from across Vacouver Island.

Another winner from Parksville was Osprey Electric Ltd., which won the Business of the Year category. They were established in 2012 and provide electricity contracts for western British Columbia and Vancouver Island.

Other winners included San Group of Port Alberni, which won the Business of the Year award, and Duncan’s Ignition Motorsports, named Small Business of the Year.

Because there was no BE Awards event last year, the nominations covered the last two years – 2020 and 2021. The nominations were, as usual, evenly split between companies in the north of Malahat and south of Malahat.

“It was a big celebration of the best of the best on Vancouver Island like never before,” said Mark MacDonald of Business Examiner, who is coordinating the event. “It has been two very long years since we have been able to come together at events like this, and we are grateful that so many wonderful companies have been able to come through such difficult and unprecedented times and have stories of success to share and we could celebrate with them.

Other PQB area businesses named finalists in their respective categories include: Eat Fresh Urban Market of Parksville for Entrepreneur of the Year; Current Millwork of Parksville for Manufactured Wood Products Business of the Year; M & N Matress of Parksville for Retail of the Year; and Parksville’s Bravenet Marketing for Technology Company of the Year.
