CFL Players’ Association ratifies new collective agreement

The CFL Players’ Association ratified a collective agreement with the Canadian Football League Thursday night.
The CFLPA made the announcement by email. The player vote came hours after the sides reached a tentative seven-year deal — and two days after CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie unveiled the league’s final offer.
“We are delighted that the players have now ratified a new collective agreement between the CFL and CFTPA,” Amnbrosie said in a statement. The CFL Board of Governors will soon proceed to its ratification vote. We hope for a successful season, including the preseason games. this weekend — and a long and fruitful partnership with our players.
With the players agreeing to the deal, the league’s exhibition season will open on time Friday night.
On Monday, the players voted against a tentative agreement that the union had recommended they accept.
