ROOM TO HOST A BUSINESS LUNCH
The Sanibel and Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will hold its next business luncheon on August 10 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Captiva Island Yacht Club, 5903 Captiva Drive, Captiva.
The guest speaker will be Jesse Lavender, Director of Parks and Recreation for Lee County. He will talk about the ongoing beautification, erosion control and improvement projects that began at the Sanibel Causeway in July 2021 and are expected to continue through June 2024.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation sponsors the lunch.
The cost is $30 for chamber members only. Pre-registration is required by August 5 at 5 p.m. at sanibel-captiva.org or 239-472-8255; visits without an appointment will not be accepted. Payment is due at time of registration.
FORT MYERS ROOM NAMES AWARD FINALISTS
Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, Sanibel-Captiva FISH President Maggi Feiner and FISH Executive Director Maria Espinoza have been named finalists for the inaugural Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Chamber Awards.
San Cap Community Bank is a finalist for Large Business of the Year, along with Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company. Feiner is a finalist for Community Impact, along with Teri Hansen of Priority Marketing. Espinoza is a finalist for Young Professional of the Year, along with Andrea Smith of Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz.
Recognizing members for their outstanding contributions to the greater Fort Myers community, the awards will be held August 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club in Fort Myers.

BERGSTROM JOINS RE/MAX OF THE ISLANDS
RE/MAX of the Islands has announced that local real estate agent Chuck Bergstrom has joined their company.
From Chicago, Bergstrom began visiting the islands in the late 1970s. His previous professional career included 40 years of experience as a commodities trader on the Chicago Stock Exchange. Bergstrom moved to the islands permanently and began his career as a real estate agent in 2000.
He specializes in the sale and marketing of properties on Sanibel and Captiva. Bergstrom has personally invested in real estate on the islands since he started vacationing. And over the years, he has become an expert in construction, redevelopment and renovation projects.
SAN CAP COMMUNITY BANK REHIRES SEEGER
Colleen Seeger has joined the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank as a teller at its main office at 2406 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
She is responsible for assisting clients with their personal and professional banking transactions.
Seeger previously worked as a cashier at the main office from 2016-21.
TWO ISLAND COMPANIES MAKE TOP YELP LIST
Joey’s Custard and The Shack of Sanibel made Yelp’s “Best Ice Cream Spots in Florida 2022.”
A list of the top 25, Yelp said it identified businesses in the ice cream category, then ranked the spots using a number of factors, including total volume and review scores between January 1, 2021 and June 30. . , all companies listed had a satisfactory health score as of June 30.
Joey’s Custard scored the No. 3 spot, while The Shack of Sanibel came in at No. 21.

Sun Watch SWFL has earned National Home Watch Association accreditation for its third year.
The association was formed in 2009 to establish and maintain the highest industry standards for in-home and absentee home monitoring services across the United States and Canada.
Originally from Chicago, owners Greg and Sue Peters have resided in Fort Myers since 2014. The husband and wife team have been business partners for over 15 years and manage their own investment properties as owners. They have experience renovating properties and they have over 10 years of experience maintaining their vacation home in another state.

BANK PROVIDES COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENTS TO EMPLOYEES
In recognition of the hard work and dedication of team members, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has announced a company-wide cost of living adjustment to benefit employees.
Due to rising costs of living, expenses, and a desire to retain, as well as attract, employees, the Board voted unanimously to implement the change effective this month.
The decision establishes new minimum wage standards for employees to ensure overall alignment with the bank’s business objectives, while maintaining and improving customer service.
